What is Rehab Like? A Typical Day In Alcohol and Drug Rehab

What To Expect in Alcohol and Drug Rehab

Making the choice to enter into an alcohol and drug rehab program is a commendable brave decision to make. While you know you are ready to face the innermost emotions and addictive behaviors related to your substance abuse disorder, you have questions about what you can expect within an addiction treatment program.

At TruPath, we believe that healing from alcohol and drug addiction requires a continuum of services ranging in levels of care and support to meet the individual needs of our patients. When you first arrive at our recovery center, we will meet with you individually to gain an understanding of your history of substance abuse along with any pre-existing medical history, and behavioral health conditions including co-occurring disorders that may have been contributing to your current drug or alcohol addiction. Our comprehensive treatment program utilizes traditional methods of addiction therapy including behavioral therapy and dual diagnosis treatment while having holistic and alternative therapy methods combined with your individualized treatment plans to ensure that you heal from substance abuse within your mind, body, and spirit.

Inpatient vs Outpatient Rehab

Choosing the right option for addiction treatment is important and when you are preparing to begin your substance abuse treatment program it can be hard to know which method of treatment will be best suited to your needs.

Inpatient rehab provides patients with an opportunity to reside within our residential treatment center. Patients will be able to fully immerse themselves in the healing process of addiction treatment while removing any barriers to success such as triggers within your home environment and outside distractions. You will be surrounded by fellow patients and addiction therapists who all share the same goal of supporting one another in achieving a life of sobriety. Patients will engage in individual therapy sessions and group therapy processes that will utilize the latest in evidence-based addiction therapy methods to help them gain an understanding of what has been the driving force for their addiction all along while learning the tools for relapse prevention and healthy life skills for addiction recovery.

Outpatient rehab allows patients to remain at home while attending the recovery center during the day to continue with addiction therapy. Patients can choose from a structured program of partial hospitalization where you will attend the treatment center for full 6-hour days for up to 6 days a week. Patients will have access to the same supportive addiction treatment methods that you would find in inpatient rehab. If you are looking for an outpatient rehab program that reduces the time commitment and structure of your program, you can choose an intensive outpatient rehab program where you will choose the days you attend the treatment center and attend for up to 3 hours a day to engage in the addiction therapy and recovery process. Patients are able to have the support of addiction therapists as they navigate the early stages of addiction recovery as they begin to attend work again and take care of prior responsibilities all the while having the support of a counselor to debrief the successes and challenges within your early addiction recovery process.

What is Detox Like?

The first crucial step in addiction recovery is to address the physical dependency that has developed on alcohol and drugs within a medical detox program. Your detox process will be dependent on your history of substance abuse and the severity of your alcohol or drug addiction. Our team of onsite medical professionals will gain an understanding of your addiction through initial intake and assessments to be better prepared to develop a thorough medical detox program that will ensure that you can safely remove the harmful toxins of alcohol and drugs. As you experience withdrawal symptoms, you will be monitored by our nurses and doctors who will provide you with medical interventions including medication-assisted treatment along with incorporating holistic treatment methods that will support you in safely and comfortably overcoming the unpleasant or, sometimes, painful withdrawal symptoms while maintaining your ability to feel relaxed and at ease.
